Photon Energy installed a total of 260.75 kWp of solar photovoltaic at 6 different sites for Central and North West London (CNWL) NHS Hospital Trust.
Details of the installation
Photon Energy retrofitted solar PV on the pitched roofs of 9 buildings at 6 different sites owned by Central and North West London, NHS Hospital Trust. The sites included the Kingswood centre, Riverside and Woodside Centre at Hillingdon Hospital, Rosedale Court, South Kensington Mental Health Centre and Woodfield Day Centre.
All sites were fitted with Upsolar 250 Wp modules, with the exception of Rosedale Court, where SunPower 327 Wp were installed in order to maximise the generation from the available roof space.
A total of 1001 PV modules were installed across the 6 sites, generating an estimated 232,450 kWh/year and saving 110.2 tCO₂/year.
Prior to winning the contract, Photon Energy were subject to an extensive vetting process, culminating in a post contract interview. Detailed site visits had to be undertaken with bespoke risk and method statements drawn up for each one. Particular attention was paid to maintaining the buildings’ operational ability throughout the install.
Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest trusts in the UK, caring for people with a wide range of physical and mental health needs.
Abu Luswata, Senior Engineer of Photon Energy, said, “It was challenge to retrofit the PV systems without disrupting the daily activities at the various sites. We continually liaised with the estate managers and employed a high degree of flexibility in order to minimise the noise and visual disruption”.
