All Photon Energy’s solar PV systems are designed and installed to the requirements of the Micro-generation Certification Scheme.
As an NICEIC approved contractor, all our installations are designed and installed to conform to the national wiring regulations for electrical installations (BS7671).
Health and Safety
We insist on the highest standards of health and safety and take the safety of our staff and sub-contractors extremely seriously. Photon Energy has a written H&S Policy and our procedures are audited annually by an independent Health and Safety advisor who also audits our site work.
Each member of our staff is required to complete an NHBC Introduction to Health and Safety training course and all our staff and site operatives hold Construction Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS) Cards as an absolute minimum.
Our installations director holds the Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate and all our site supervisors hold the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Certificate.
The company is certified by the Construction Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS). CHAS is the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK; it is a non-commercial scheme available to organisations looking for suitably competent suppliers.
We are also a certified SMAS Worksafe Contractor and designer.
Photon Energy operates a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the recognised international standard, BS EN ISO 9001:2008. We have documented procedures and a Quality Policy.
Our QMS was certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 in March 2008 and is audited annually to ensure compliance with the standard.
Photon Energy operates a Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the recognised international standard, BS EN ISO 14001:2004. We have documented procedures and a Environmental Policy
All employees are encouraged to help ensure the good environmental performance of the company. We also work with our suppliers to reduce the amount of waste materials on site.
All the products we use are sourced to minimise environmental impact as far as possible; and we encourage our staff to use public transport instead of cars.
We recognise that our commercial activities have potential to impact on our suppliers and our locality. We therefore take great care selecting the companies who supply us directly with products and services. Our Ethical Trading Policy establishes the standards for suppliers working with us.
Photon Energy supports the UN Global Compact which has developed a set of core values for human rights and labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. We also have anti-bribery and anti-slavery policies in place.
As a socially responsible business our suppliers and customers have a right to expect:
- Products manufactured and sourced by Photon Energy are produced under working conditions that are hygienic and safe.
- All workers involved in the delivery of services provided by Photon Energy are treated with full consideration to their basic human rights.
- Photon Energy acts in an ethical manner above and beyond basic legal requirements.
As part of our commitment to the protection of the environment, we are committed to minimising the amount of waste arising from our activities.
We have implemented a waste hierarchy approach to minimising our waste based on five stages:
- Avoidance and minimisation
- Reuse of materials
- Recycling of materials
- Recovery of materials
- Waste disposal to landfill or incineration
We are members of PVCYCLE, a scheme for recycling of PV modules at the end of their life.
