Photon Energy installed a 364 kWp solar PV system on West Yorkshire Police's three sites working alongside Interserve Engineering Services. The sites were in Carrgate, Wakefied and Leeds.

Details of the installation

The PV systems consist of 984 x Conergy 250P polycrystalline PV modules. The PV modules are connected to SMA inverters that have been mounted at roof level to minimize the DC cable run. The modules have been mounted on the newbuild flat roofs of the Leeds and Wakefield sites and the standing seam roof of the Carrgate building.

West Yorkshire Police Authority awarded a contract to deliver two new local Divisional Headquarters (DHQs), custody suites and a specialist operational training facility to provide new workplaces for over a thousand police officers and civilian staff in the region.

A consortium led by construction and support services specialists Interserve and infrastructure investor and developer, Equitix, designed, built and financed the three facilities.

Designed to BREEAM Excellent standard, all three sites required solar PV to meet their planning requirements. Photon Energy’s approach was to work closely with Interserve’s construction and support services teams and to deliver a technical and well-engineered solution that was signed off by the Jacobs Engineering Group.

The PV had to have no operational impact on the ability of the sites to operate as police headquarters and needed to be designed to require the minimal amount of maintenance.

The three sites Carrgate, Wakefield and Leeds required 364 kWp of PV. Photon Energy worked closely with IES to deliver the turnkey solution on time and on budget whilst maintaining IES’ high standards of Health and Safety.”
