Photon Energy installed 215.8 kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) at Dee Park, Reading, working alongside Willmott Dixon.
Details of the installation
Photon Energy has installed a total of 169 properties including a block of flats and a care home with solar PV at the Dee Park housing estate in Reading, constructed by Willmott Dixon.
This project has taken place in several stages, with the first install of a 24.6 kWp system taking place at Dee Park Care Home Centre in 2011.
Willmott Dixon then awarded further contracts to Photon Energy involving a 15.2 kWp solar PV array for a block of flats, closely followed by 2 phases of housing, that were each installed with over 80 kWp of solar PV.
The systems for the houses were typically sized between 1.1 and 3.25 kWp, with 9-10 kWp for the blocks of flats. LDK 240 Wp polycrystalline modules were used for the first phase of housing and a mix of Upsolar 250 Wp and SunPower 327 Wp for the second phase.
It is expected that these installations will generate an annual output of 190,265 kWh of green energy per year for residents of the housing estate, a saving of 98.75 tCO₂.
The Dee Park Partnership, a joint venture between Willmott Dixon, Catalyst Housing and Reading Borough Council, was tasked with regenerating the 33 hectare Dee Park estate and building a large number of new, more energy efficient homes for private sale and affordable rent.
