Photon Energy retrofitted 273.46 kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) across 6 different sites for the East of England Ambulance Trust.

Details of the installation

Photon Energy retrofitted solar PV for East of England Ambulance Trust on six of the organisations’s control centres located in Braintree, Norwich, Luton, Melbourne, Welwyn Garden City and Cromer. Each of the systems comprised of Conergy PH250 panels connected to SMA Tripower inverters, bar the installation at Cromer, which featured LDK panels connected to Samil Power inverters. The panels were mounted either to K2 aluminium rails fixed with hanger bolts to the purlins or fixed directly to metal roof sheets.

These systems are expected to generate around 240,602 kWh of energy per annum and save over 100 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

Andy Saunders, Head of Estates at East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: “Photon Energy provided an excellent service throughout the project, installing over 1000 panels across 6 geographically dispersed sites. The installation was done to a tight timescale (5 weeks from receipt of order to commissioning), within budget and undertaken with a minimum of disruption to site users.”

During the installation of the PV systems, it was vital that the daily operations of the ambulance centres were not disrupted in any way and detailed method statements and risk assessments were developed in order to ensure this did not happen.  An eight-strong project team ensured all six installations were completed on schedule.
