Lucy Aitchison, Engineering Director
Lucy studied Electronic & Electrical Engineering at Birmingham University and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology. She has worked in the solar PV industry since 1998.
Lucy has managed renewable energy installation projects for over fifteen years, including all of the technologies installed by Photon (PV solar panels, solar thermal and wind turbines).
She is responsible for Photon’s engineering team and applies her extensive project management experience in training our dedicated engineers and overseeing the design of our systems.
Jonathan Bates, Founder and General Manager
Jonathan studied Chemical Engineering at University College London and went on to complete his PhD at the University of Northumbria’s Newcastle Photovoltaics Applications Centre in 1992.
He has worked in the renewable energy industry ever since – as an engineer at the Halcrow Group and as a senior engineer and director at IT Power, a leading renewable energy R&D consultancy. He is now a Director and General Manager at Photon Energy, where he is responsible for the business planning, as well as sales and marketing activities.
Jonathan is well respected in the solar PV community, serving as a board member of the UK’s Solar Trade Association and deputy chairman of the STA’s PV Technical Working Group. He is also a member of the PV Technical Committee for the Micro-generation Certification Scheme. He is a member of the Energy Institute and a Chartered Engineer.
Michael Holmes, Installations Director
Michael completed a full electrical apprenticeship and workied his way to site foreman before joining Parkman Property consultancy as an Assistant Engineer. He then joined R Dunham Electrical as Contracts Manager where he was responsible for managing projects up to a value of £1 million.
He installed his first solar PV system in 1999 at Mabley Street in Hackney working with colleagues at IT Power.
Michael is responsible for overseeing the work of our installations teams and is responsible for our on-site heath and safety and quality control of our installations.
Rolf Oldach, Technical Director
Rolf has over twenty years’ technical experience of all aspects of renewable energy systems, having worked on solar PV and other renewable energy projects in Europe and several developing countries.
At Photon Energy he is responsible for procurement and leads the finance department. Before joining the company he was a senior engineer at energy consultancy IT Power, responsible for grid-connected and off-grid PV and wind projects. He has also worked in Siemens Solar’s PV systems R&D department.
His experience spans the development of technical specifications for grid-connected and off-grid PV systems; supervising installations; trouble shooting and commissioning; performance monitoring and analysis; evaluation of PV installations in the field; system and component testing including assessment of PV test facilities; and renewable energy training.
