Photon Energy installed a 73.25 kWp PV system on the Façade of the flagship office re-development at Forbury Place in Reading.

The PV system consists of 292 x Upsolar 250P polycrystalline PV modules. The PV modules are connected to Huawei inverters that have been mounted at roof level to minimise the DC cable run. The modules have been mounted on the façade of the flagship office redevelopment.

The office space, developed by M&G Real Estate and Bell Hammer, opposite the former Reading prison site, is one of the biggest speculative office developments outside London. SSE utilises 190,000 sq ft of office space over eight floors.

The building's specification included energy efficiency measures and Low and Zero Carbon technologies such as air source heat pumps, Micro CHP (Combined Heat & Power) units and photovoltaic panels to help minimise the CO₂ emissions from the building.

The PV system generates 49.37 MWh/year and saves 26,1167 kgCO₂/yr.

Jonathan Bates, Managing Director of Photon Energy, said: Forbury Place will be the home of energy giant SSE and we take pride that their electricity consumption will be supplemented by solar power from a Photon Energy installation.”
