Our Collaboration to Support Ukrainian Healthcare with Solar Energy
We are very pleased announce that Photon Energy and Midsummer Energy will be working together to fund a 36.5kW solar PV/battery system for Slobozhanske Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast.
On 14th October, the Midsummer team will start a fundraising challenge to run 1,900 miles in just one month for RePower Ukraine. Our enthusiastic volunteers will attempt the distance, equal to running from the UK head office in Cambridge to Slobozhanske Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. It's like running 2.5 marathons every day so check in to see how many miles we've covered - and please sponsor the cause! https://www.linkedin.com/company/midsummer-energy/
Providing support to the healthcare system is a real way to help and ensure a very positive impact. Before the war, there were some 4,500 hospitals in Ukraine and as many have 1,500 of these have been irreparably damaged by Russian shelling, meaning the remaining hospitals have to meet a much increased demand on their resources. This is exacerbated by rolling power cuts due to the destruction of much of the country's electricity infrastructure - hospitals are often without electricity supply for 18 hours a day. By providing relatively small PV systems with 30-40kWh of battery storage means electricity can be provided to ICUs, maternity units and monitoring equipment during the power cuts.
Photon and Midsummer will provide the PV modules, inverters and battery storage free of charge, but we need funds for additional equipment which will all be bought from Ukrainian suppliers (mounting system, cabling, isolators etc) and for the installation of the system by local Ukrainian installers.
Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can have a real and meaningful impact. If you are unable to donate, sharing this message on your social media can also make a difference.
