Jonathan has a degree in Chemical Engineering from University College London and a PhD from the Newcastle Photovoltaics Application Centre at the University of Northumbria. He has worked in the solar PV and wider renewable energy industry since 1994 and is now Managing Director of Photon Energy.

Jonathan is currently serving his fourth, 3 year term as an elected member of the board of Solar Energy UK and chairs SEUK’s Rooftop PV Working Group. He has been a member of the Micro-generation Certification Scheme’s (MCS) PV Working Group since the scheme’s inception in 2007.

Michael is a fully qualified electrician who began as a contracts manager for a leading Electrical Contractor before moving into renewable energy. He is our duty holder/QM for the NICEIC.

He has been working in renewable energy since 1999 and is responsible for overseeing the work of installation teams, on site quality and Health and Safety. He recently completed his NEBOSH construction certificate and is a member of the IET and IOSH.

Claire joined Photon Energy in 2014 to take over the day-to-day running of the Finance department. Claire has studied both AAT and ACCA, she has applied her previous knowledge to build a small team in order to support the business and its growth.

Claire started her career thirty years ago working with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (PWC) as an auditor. In the time since, Claire has worked for a number of organisations where she was a key player in creating finance teams and systems in the retail & recruitment sector. During this time she was instrumental in the fast track expansion programmes within these business.

Jenny holds a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has been a chartered member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers since 2013. Her journey in the renewable energy industry began in 2008, and she has since achieved great success in executing numerous projects involving solar PV, solar thermal, and wind turbines.

As the head of our engineering team, Jenny leads our engineering team made up of electrical/mechanical engineers and project managers to design and deliver our projects. Her extensive knowledge and proficiency in renewable energy systems enable her to guide her team effectively.

Furthermore, Jenny holds the responsibility of managing and upholding our Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and MCS 001 standards. Her dedication ensures that our operations meet the highest quality and environmental standards.

Lucy was one of the founders of Photon Energy and our Engineering Director until her sudden and unexpected death on 24th May 2023.

We will cherish the memories we have of her and the impact she made on our lives. Lucy is dearly missed by her work colleagues both past and present.
