three rivers academy - surrey

Photon Energy has installed 467 Premium series (monocrystalline) Bisol 300 Wp solar PV panels in a single array at the new 16,000m² Three Rivers Academy in Hersham, Surrey.

A 140 kWp solar PV system was required in order for planning permission to be obtained for the new school.

Photon worked through the design process with BAM Energy and BAM Design and concluded that SolarEdge provided the best technical solution, with an optimiser per pair of modules, linked to a Fire Fighter Gateway. The system will automatically shut down should the fire alarm go off.

This high specification system also incorporates a SolarEdge GSM that connects the inverters to the internet, enabling continuous performance monitoring, right down to module level.

The solar PV is expected to generate 125,520 kWh of electricity and save 65.1 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

BAM Energy funded the installation of the school’s solar PV system, which released a significant sum from the construction budget. The cost of installing and operating the PV system is recovered through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Reid Cunningham, Srategic Development Director of BAM Design said:

“We worked in collaboration with Photon Energy to ensure the optimal design and performance of the solar array could be achieved. We’re confident that the high performance Bisol modules used in conjunction with SolarEdge optimisers will deliver the best solution for all parties involved.”
