Photon Energy installed a total of 225 kWp of solar PV across 83 individual properties at the Oaks Estate, Barkby Thorpe Road, Leicester for Persimmon Homes.
This was a large and complex project requiring involvement from our engineering team for a three year period.
Photon Energy installed different sized PV systems to suit the 9 different styles of home that were designed to be a mixture of social and private housing. The PV system sizes ranged between 1.44 and 5.04 kWp
Each solar PV array was comprised of polycrystalline PV panels, the majority affixed with a K2 roof hooks mounting system.
SMA and Solarmax provided the inverters, with the most appropriate model selected for each location.
Close to 1,000 PV panels and 83 inverters were installed, providing the estate with an annual output of 195,000 kWh of green energy per year and saving of 100 tCO₂.
Abu Luswata, Senior Engineer of Photon Energy said “this project spanning over three years provided many challenges. We were required to meet the tight deadlines set by Persimmon Homes in accordance with their development programme and coordinate with the schedules of all the other trades on site.”
