raf daws hill projects
photon energy has installed 316.82kwp solar pv for raf daws hill housing development in high wycombe.
Photon Energy was contracted to install Solar PV for new housing development at RAF Daws Hill. The project began in 2016 and is due to be completed mid-2020. Each home varies and includes 3 to 10 Viridian Clearline Fusion modules. The average energy output predicted per home is 1,658 kWh/annum.
The former military base now includes over 300 new homes, 70 apartments and some small industrial units. Photon Energy have been working on the project with Taylor Wimpey for 4 years and has installed solar PV systems across 200 new homes.
The redevelopment of the 60 acre land should open up the former private base to provide a local centre for the wider community of Daws Hill. This development includes a village centre with a convenience store, community centre and bus hub. The development is required to deliver a minimum 15% reduction in carbon emissions through the use of on-site renewable and low carbon sources.
Taylor Wimpey purchased the 24 hectare decommissioned military base from the Defence Estates in September 2011. Taylor Wimpey worked with Wycombe District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council and the local community to secure the residential development.
Eva Tejedor, Senior Project Engineer at Photon Energy said:
“I had the opportunity to take over this large project that has been running for over 4 years. We are delighted with outcome of Solar PV and hope it generates the targeted 15% reduction in CO2 emissions.”
George Comfort, Quantity Surveyor at Taylor Wimpey said:
“It was a pleasure working with Photon Energy on this extensive project, they were very professional throughout the process. It is great to see the provision of renewable energy generation installations on site”
