Does the installation of solar panels damage your roof?
This a common concern and it has stopped some businesses from choosing not to install solar panels. If you are having doubts, read the full article.
We think it’s important to understand the process of installing solar panels so that’s what you’ll learn about today.
It is essential that you use the right service provider for your solar installation (we’ll give you a hint – Photon Energy). Before deciding to start with an installation, you need to be sure your roof is in good condition – you don’t want to have to uninstall your PV panels later to repair your roof.
If you think there might a problem with your roof, you have a few options here:
· If you have easy access, carry out a visual inspection or if access is difficult, you can use a drone.
· Employ professionals.
Solar panels can of course be installed on nearly all roof types, including pitched and flat roofs. The main roof type where care needs to be taken is an asbestos containing roof coverings. You might think that roof penetration is necessary to fix the PV system. Well, we can confirm that this in NOT true and Photon Energy will certainly NOT drill holes in your roof to install PV panels!
Loading must be considered to ensure that your roof can take the additional weight. If needed, our qualified and experienced engineers will conduct structural assessments of customers’ roofs to ensure they can take the weight of the solar panels.
As you can imagine, every project is very different and comes with its challenges but if your roof is in good condition and the panels are installed correctly, your roof will not get damaged.
Do contact us today to discuss your project, one of our friendly team members will be able to speak to you and advise you further.
