Women in Energy Award - Lucy Aitchison
It is with a mixture of great sadness, as well as pride, that we accepted the award at the Solar & Storage Live Awards on behalf of Lucy, who died very suddenly and unexpectedly in May of this year.
Lucy worked in the solar industry for 25 years; after completing her degree in Electrical Engineering, she took a job with BP Solar in 1998. She worked in the solar industry ever since.
Not only was Lucy one of the founders of Photon Energy and our Engineering Director, but she was also a brilliant engineer and a dedicated environmentalist. In addition, she was a close friend and colleague.
Through her dedication and her uncompromising professionalism, her honesty, her kindness and decency, Lucy was an inspiration to us all - men and women alike. I wish there were more people like her and I can think of no better way to recognise her 25 year commitment to our industry.
On her behalf, we would like to thank all those who supported her nomination for this award – there are too many of you to list.
We would also like to thank all our colleagues at Photon Energy who have supported each other through what has been a very difficult time;
thank you!
